Individual Match Play ~ Net individual play against one opponent.  Teams should rank themselves as A, B, C, D abilities/handicap and play against an opposing teammember of equal ranking when possible.  Strokes will be given to the higher handicap and be awarded by taking the difference in the two handicaps.  The difference will be applied to the more difficult rated handicap holes.  Each hole is worth 1 point and is either won, lost or halved.  After nine holes the higher point scorer will win the match.  The teams record will be made up of the 4 matches (W,L,T) to contribute to their season record. Individual team points will be used as tie-breaker for playoff seeding.

Team Match Play ~ (2 Man Best Ball, 2  Man Scramble, Chapman) Net team play against 2 competitors.  Teams will pair up and rank themselves as A or B and play against the opposing team members with similar rankings.  Team games may have different ways to calculate handicap, please reference below for instructions on how to calculate the team handicap.  Strokes will be given to the higher handicap and be awarded by taking the difference in handicaps.  The difference will be applied to the more difficult handicap rated holes.  Each hole is worth 1 point and is either won, lost or halved.  After nine holes the higher point scorer will win the match.  The teams record will be made up of the 2 (matches (W,L,T) to contribute to their season record.  Individual team points will be used as tie-breaker to qualify for the playoffs.

Handicap Calculations

  • Individual Match Play - Each Match will only give strokes to one player.  Subtract the higher handicap from the lower handicap and give up that amount of strokes on the hardest ranked holes.  ie, if I'm a 10 and your'e a 7, you would give me three shot on each of the 3 hardest ranked holes by placing a dot in the scoring column for those holes (the dot indicates that player receives a net shot on the hole).

  • 2 Man Best Ball - Handicaps will be calculated of the lowest handicap of the 4 players for each of the two matches.  If the lowest handicap is a 10 and the other handicaps are 12, 13, and 15.  The 10 will not receive any net strokes. The 12 will receive two net strokes (dots), the 13 will receive three net strokes (dots) and the 15 will receive five net strokes (dots) to be applied to the hardest ranked holes.

  • 2 Man Scramble - Add each teammates handicap together and divide by 4.  Compare to your opponents team handicap and apply the difference to the hardest ranked holes.  If there is a fraction after determining the difference, round down.
